Safety Precautions and Rules

All plans, rules, and procedures listed below are subject to change with no notice based on advice from Governor Baker, the CDC, the RMV, and the DSAA.

We are still working with a limited workforce. Several of our employees are high risk and have decided not to return to work right away. We respect their choice. Any employee or students who does not wish to get in a car with Grand Prix will not be required to do so.

At Grand Prix we are taking every possible precaution that we can to maintain the health and safety of our staff, our students, and the public. By nature of our business it is impossible to maintain anything close to the 6ft of space that is recommended for social distancing. Below is an incomplete list of the precautions we have taken and the rules we have in place.

Precautions for the Car:

Instructors will each be assigned their own car. Cars will only be shared by employees within the same household.

Instructors will wear face masks, face shields, or both at any time they are in a Grand Prix car.

Hand Sanitizer, Disinfectant Spray, Clorox Wipes, Disposable Gloves, and Disposable Masks will be available in every driver’s ed car.

Each car will have a laminated copy of the cleaning procedure that should be followed at the beginning and end of their day as well as between each student.

When at all possible the windows in the car will be rolled down and the air conditioning will be off.

Instructors will provide a health check in before the start of each day. Anyone who has been exposed or experiences any symptoms will not be allowed to return to work for 14 days.

All Grand Prix employees received 6 hours of training prior to returning to work. Topics covered included: Proper mask usage, proper sanitizing procedure, updates on new policies and procedures, identifying Covid-19 symptoms, dealing with teen anxiety and stress, and how to break bad driving habits.

When at all possible students will be assigned to the same instructor to minimize contact with different people. Both fellow students and employees.

Students and Instructors will stop and get out of the car every hour so that they may temporarily take off their mask if needed for fresh air.

Precautions for the Office:

Sneeze Shields have been installed at the Grand Prix Location in Hyannis. A wall of plexi glass will remain between you and Grand Prix staff at all times.

Masks will be worn by staff whenever a customer is in the building and when maintaining social distancing is not possible.

Hand Sanitizer, Disinfectant Spray, Clorox Wipes, Disposable Gloves, and Disposable Masks will be available in every office and classroom location.

Each location will have a laminated copy of the cleaning procedure that should be followed at the beginning and end of each day.

Each work station will be sanitized by the person before and after using it. Including pens and doorknobs, and bathrooms used by customers.

When at all possible the windows and doors will be opened.

Office staff will provide a health check in before the start of each day. Anyone who has been exposed or experiences any symptoms will not be allowed to return to work for 14 days.

All Grand Prix employees received 6 hours of training prior to returning to work. Topics covered included: proper sanitizing procedure, updates on new policies and procedures, identifying Covid-19 symptoms, dealing with teen anxiety and stress, and how to break bad driving habits

Rules:

  • All visitors should wear a mask when entering the office and use hand sanitizer immediately upon entering the building.
  • All students are required to wear a mask throughout their entire driving lesson. Students who cannot wear a mask due to a health issue should contact the office to discuss arrangements. No students will ever be in the car with anyone else not wearing PPE.
  • No food or drinks will be allowed in the cars until further notice as they require the removal of PPE.
  • Any student who shows up to their lesson without the appropriate mask or PPE will not be allowed to drive and it will be considered a late cancellation.
  • Any student who does not wear or utilize their PPE correctly or who does not comply with the rules or sanitation procedure will be asked to exit the vehicle and will need to arrange to be picked up by their parent immediately. You will not be allowed to rebook any sessions until the state of MA enters stage four of the Governors Reopening Plan and PPE is no longer required.
  • Students will not be allowed to use cell phones at all during drive times or observation due to the amount of germs that live on our frequently touched objects. Ideally these items should be left at home.
  • Due to the temporary ban on observation hours, the office will be scheduling all appointments based off of your availability form. Hours are so specifically booked based on geography that we are not allowing changes in pick up or drop off locations in order to minimize the amount of time between students.
  • You may not cancel hours that were booked within the parameters of your availability form.

If your lesson is cancelled due to illness, your appointment will not be booked until after the 14 day symptom check period.
